not just in war zones u can say something like that .. come to think deeper, sometimes in the corporate world, in office also you can say the same thing ..

I had a “pregnant” car tyre on my way back from Taiping. It could have exploded any second on my way back thank God I saw it during one of my petrol stops and got it replaced in Ipoh.

One of my best friend bestowed me with this wonderful opportunity to be his upcoming wedding day chauffeur. This is the first time I am going to be directly involved in a wedding. Yes, I did got involved before, like driving relatives (sisters they call it, the ones that give the groom a really hard time), opening the door of the wedding car (very young) or ushering family and friends to their seats during the dinner (a lot of them not agreeing to the place you allocated them) but this time it is different. I am DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for their whereabouts and not to mention safety. 

It’s such a great honour, plus I will also have another best friend sitting next to me as best man. Now, for me to get a pair of really cool looking shades to look the part Troy, I know it is hard for you to assign roles to each and everyone of us for your special day. You are such a wonderful individual everyone is fighting to do something for you. I know someone is really disappointed for not making the best man role .. ke ke ke .. But I am fine with what I need to do.

Add to my sense of feeling appreciated, the chauffeur is also going to use his own car. Special isn’t it? My car is going to be heavily involved in the wedding too (also getting a 3 layer polish paid for).

And it is not some fancy mini or sexy bimmer .. my car is only this ..

The reason for extending the Korean trip wasn’t just about going for more shopping or trying to be football managers. It was all about this!

The entire objective was simple, we had to conquer the snow mountains. We’ve heard a lot about skiing or snowboarding alright, now this was the moment of truth, when our ultimate balance was put to the test. Now before we could start breaking records or achieving the impossible, we had to first find out how to rent the equipment. Language was such an obstacle in Korea. This was about our only clue.

RENTAL HOUSE – The only words we could read from this place, nothing else. We couldn’t communicate, not a word. With a panic friend around matters were not getting any better. It was fast becoming a disaster, our hopes of becoming the next winter olympic champion was fading as we were reduced to mere observers. Thank God, before our friend could complain anymore I managed to get a decent Korean chap who worked at the place and asked for his help. With 5 years of residence in New Zealand, Korean or English no problemo! Here we were, dreams revived. 3 different sets of tickets to buy I would have imagined how difficult without his intervention.

Armed with renewed confidence we faced our next challenge.

Well, life doesn’t always turn out as planned. Even the great athlete in Bryan took many nasty falls.

And some were even contemplating quitting. 

But just like how the saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining. If you tried hard enough, nothing can stop you from achieving what the mind can conceive. We were soon able to put a good run together and take advantage of the amazing slopes at the resort.

While not forgeting the need to take impressive shots so that I can post them here. This is the lift that were took to get up to the top, hotel building on the right.

Finally, the girls got their wish of snapping with a cute Korean guy.

As the adventure continues. Finally, we found a spot for a winter portrait.

An extremely anxious colleague scratching her head on where to go next. Communication with the local folks was a big problem but thanks to the person in the middle of this picture we managed to move around, a little bit less inconvenient.

Sent my car in for service today. As the prevous work done by an unauthorized workshop was really shoddy. Excessive vibration during N or P. Not what you would expect from a car of this make right?

For those who were not extending their stay, day 3 was good bye to Seoul. The eight of us had ample time to sleep late. I even had time to capture extra pictures.

After ditching the tour, our first destination was to the world cup stadium. Still remember Fifa World Cup 2002 South Korea and Japan? El Hadji Diouf scored against the mighty french?

Eating was my priority, hence the pictures you see. Dinner arranged in orderly format, the Korean custom.

Bryan awestruck by the variety of side dishes made available during this final dinner of the company trip. Beef was served too. (Finally!)

Grabbing on to whatever time left, the group set out for another round of shopping. I had to take this picture, another attempt at my DSLR justification.

Not to be outdone by the girls, I got myself a jacket. The minus degrees weather was starting to get to me.
